Senior Commercial & Compliance Lawyer

You own commercial and compliance work end to end, alongside AI agents: SaaS agreements, terms of service, NDAs, DPAs, GDPR, and the EU AI Act, drafted at machine speed and finished with your judgment. You'll think like a General Counsel: proactive, commercially minded, and fluent in how clients' businesses actually work.

What you'll do

• Run your own client portfolio as the go-to person on every commercial legal question, backed by a one-hour response promise.
• Own commercial contracts from first draft to signature: SaaS and commercial agreements, terms of service, NDAs, supplier and partner deals, including redlining and negotiating with the other side.
• Advise on compliance day to day: GDPR, data processing, the EU AI Act, and sector-specific regulation, kept pragmatic and shippable rather than academic.
• Weigh risk in a startup context, prioritize by business impact, and decide what's standard and what needs to be escalated.
• Review and sharpen agent-drafted work, and set the quality bar the firm is measured against.
• Evolve templates, playbooks, and clause libraries, turning expertise into requirements for the agents.
• Spot advisory needs early, think beyond the single matter, and grow client relationships.

What you'll need

• Fully qualified lawyer (Volljurist:in) or business lawyer (Wirtschaftsjurist:in) with at least 3 years' experience in commercial and technology law in Germany; fluent German and English.
• In-house experience as legal counsel or in-house lawyer at a startup, scaleup, or established company.
• Confident, hands-on practice in commercial contracts, with sound judgment on liability, IP, and data protection.
• Practical GDPR experience; genuine interest in the EU AI Act and adjacent regulation.
• Strong tech affinity: you like working with AI tools, not against them, and want a hand in shaping how they change legal work.
• A feel for startups: speed and pragmatism over perfectionism in the wrong places.
