About the role

Join our dynamic team at TÜV AI.Lab to support our mission of making artificial intelligence in Europe safe and trustworthy. As a Junior AI Solution Architect / Machine Learning Expert, you'll help shape the future of technical AI testing and certification in an ambitious and vibrant team.

What you'll do

• Develop and advance technical conformity criteria for AI systems and AI models, particularly high-risk AI systems.
• Translate standards, norms, and regulatory requirements (e.g., EU AI Act and sector-specific regulations) into practical, comprehensible, and quantifiable testing requirements.
• Work on developing testing procedures, testing methods, benchmarks, and tools for assessing AI systems with a focus on technical aspects such as Safety, Security, Robustness, and Performance.
• Support research and development projects for testing, certification, and conformity assessment of AI systems across different application areas, particularly Health/Medical, Automotive, and Machinery.
• Contribute to developing and piloting innovative testing and certification processes and validate research results using concrete practical use cases.
• Apply your technical expertise to knowledge development, knowledge management, and advancing our testing methodology while working closely with interdisciplinary teams and external partners.

What you'll need

• Completed degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Medical Technology, or comparable program.
• Solid foundational knowledge and strong interest in topics related to Artificial Intelligence, AI quality, AI regulation, and trustworthy AI.
• A degree and enthusiasm for understanding complex technical questions analytically and pragmatically.
• Ability to work independently, structured, goal-oriented, and solution-focused.
• Enjoy quickly familiarizing yourself with new topics, understanding new concepts, and communicating them clearly.
• Teamwork is your strength, and you enjoy working at the intersection of different disciplines.
• German and English language skills at minimum C1 level.

Nice to have

• First experience in testing, auditing, standardization, certification, or conformity assessment.
• Experience in independent development of AI systems and particular interest in safeguarding such systems.
