As Director of Security & IT, you will build a platform function from the ground up that gives every hybrid human-agent team at Taxfix the speed, security, and confidence to move without friction. This is not a traditional IT Director role focused on managing tickets — you'll define the infrastructure and security foundation that turns the company's agentic ambitions into reality.
What you'll do
- Own the vision and roadmap for Taxfix's internal infrastructure and tooling layer, driving the transition from IT as a ticket-resolving function to an internal platform product.
- Lead and develop the IT team — including helpdesk, systems engineering, and incoming Security & Platform Engineer — ensuring clear ownership and structured growth paths.
- Own all core IT operations: device management (MDM), identity and access management, workplace technology, SaaS tooling, and hardware provisioning.
- Set the security strategy and posture for Taxfix's systems and agent ecosystem, embedding security continuously into platform infrastructure.
- Work closely with Systems Engineers and the agentic framework team to build secure sandboxes, credential vaults, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Own IT-specific risk management, compliance controls, and audit readiness across internal systems, partnering on GDPR/DSGVO, SOC 2, and financial regulatory requirements.
- Manage supplier relationships and lead build/buy/partner evaluations.
- Be the business-facing voice for IT in leadership conversations, translating infrastructure decisions into clear business terms.
What you'll need
- Proven experience leading an IT or infrastructure function at a scale-up or regulated tech company, including ownership of helpdesk, MDM, identity management, and workplace technology.
- Experience building or capable of building a platform mindset in a team that has historically operated as a support function.
- Strong technical depth to have credible conversations with engineers and interrogate technical decisions.
- Security literacy and hands-on experience setting security strategy in a regulated environment.
- Experience with agentic or AI infrastructure, or genuine curiosity and a track record of fast learning in emerging technical domains.
- Experience managing vendors and external partners, including build/buy/outsource decisions.
- Familiarity with compliance and data obligations in regulated environments such as financial services or tax.
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to help shape a function being designed in real time.
What they offer
- Opportunity to build a platform function from the ground up at a scale-up working on agentic infrastructure.
- Real authority and accountability in defining modern IT for a company building the future of work.
- Cross-functional partnership with Engineering, Legal, Finance, and People Ops leadership.
