You'll own the day-to-day operational payroll activities for Germany, building your expertise in German payroll legislation while playing a critical part in keeping our employees' trust. As SumUp continues to grow, there's real scope to expand into additional payrolls across Europe over time.
What you'll do
- Support all stages of the monthly German payroll cycle, from preparing and validating inputs through to reconciliation and submission
- Respond to employee payroll queries through our ticketing system, resolving them accurately and promptly
- Work closely with People Operations to maintain accurate employee payroll records and documentation
- Support payroll compliance with German tax, labour, and social security legislation
- Identify opportunities to simplify and improve payroll processes, reducing manual work where possible
What you'll need
- Fluency in both German and English, written and spoken
- Experience supporting payroll processes or working with payroll-related data
- Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and IF statements
- Ability to handle confidential information with a high level of discretion and integrity
- Comfort working in a detail-oriented, deadline-driven environment while staying organised and accurate
- A genuine curiosity to develop expertise in German payroll legislation and a proactive approach to learning
