Sr. People & Culture Operations Manager

Lead the People admin & operations team and own the operational backbone of the People function. This role is the go-to owner for payroll, HRIS, people reporting, and process documentation, making sure the fundamentals run smoothly, accurately, and at scale as the company grows.

What you'll do

• Manage and develop 1-2 People Admin/Operations team members, setting priorities and ensuring accurate, timely delivery
• Own end-to-end payroll (GmbH & EOR) with finance and external providers
• Manage payroll compliance (tax, social security, benefits) across jurisdictions
• Own the HR Admin tech, including HRIS platform: data accuracy, configuration, workflows, permissions, and integrations
• Own people reporting (headcount, turnover, DEI, org changes) and dashboards for leadership
• Own People policies, SOPs and employee-facing guides, keeping them current with legal/regulatory changes
• Ensure compliance with local labor law and data protection (GDPR)

What you'll need

• 4+ years in People/HR Operations, including 1-2 years in a leadership/people management role within German-based companies (100+ local employees)
• Hands-on experience managing and running German payroll processes
• Solid working knowledge of German labor law, data privacy (GDPR), and payroll compliance requirements
• Strong proficiency with HRIS platforms (e.g., Personio, HiBob, Workday, BambooHR)
• Comfortable building reports, auditing data integrity, and translating People metrics into meaningful operational insights
• C1+ English and B2+ German required
