Capital Markets Intern

As a Capital Markets Intern, you will work directly with the Capital Markets Operations Manager and Head of Capital Markets, experiencing the day-to-day running of structured finance facilities and assisting with analytical and operational projects alongside Tech and Commercial stakeholders.

What you'll do

• Calculate and analyse daily liquidity availability across facilities, ensuring figures are accurate and available to support timely funding and drawdown decisions.
• Prepare supporting files and requests for drawdowns and other funding requests, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate for submission.
• Maintain note registers across facilities, keeping records of issuances, transfers, and balances up to date and consistent with underlying facility documentation.
• Calculate lender interest and fees and maintain supporting records, ensuring accruals and payments are correctly tracked over time.
• Administer invoicing and payments, including preparing invoices, tracking payment status, and following up to ensure timely settlement.
• Support VAT filing and analysis, including preparing supporting schedules and assisting with review of VAT treatment where relevant.
• Support the preparation of analysis and diligence materials for discussions with lenders and development finance institutions (DFIs).
• Contribute to financial modelling and scenario analysis that feeds into strategic funding decisions across lending facilities.

What you'll need

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Business Informatics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Confident, presentable, and able to interact directly with a wide variety of stakeholders.
• Based in (or willing to relocate to) Cape Town, London or Berlin for the internship.

Nice to have

• Experience in the financial services industry (banking, asset management, fintech) or in consulting.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to identify, recommend and implement solutions based on large and complicated datasets.
• Proficiency in creating insightful reports, visualisations and presentations.
