About the role

Lead Analytics Engineer at Metrify Smart Metering, Germany's largest competitive smart metering operator. Balance hands-on engineering with a big-picture vision to drive a scalable, future-proof data ecosystem, acting as the central point of contact and technical lead across multiple sub-teams and projects.

What you'll do

• Balance hands-on engineering with a big-picture vision to drive a scalable, future-proof data ecosystem.
• Act as the central point of contact and technical lead across multiple sub-teams and projects, guiding them toward aligned, optimal solutions.
• Design and scale dbt data models to improve efficiency and support growing business requirements.
• Build and enhance ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows aligned with business goals using modern data stack tools (e.g. SQL, Python, cloud data platforms).
• Translate business requirements into robust data models and actionable insights in close collaboration with stakeholders.
• Drive prioritization and roadmap planning, leading sprint execution and delivery coordination to ensure alignment with business priorities.
• Monitor, optimize, and evolve data pipelines and analytical systems to ensure reliability and scalability.
• Mentor and guide a team, fostering professional development, collaboration, and a growth-oriented environment.

What you'll need

• 7+ years of experience in Data Analytics, Data Science, or Data Engineering roles.
• Strong expertise in SQL and data modeling, including dimensional modeling, normalization, denormalization, and integrations.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining dbt models in production environments with multi-terabyte-sized data assets.
• Proven ability to design and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows.
• Experience working with BI tools such as Power BI for reporting and data visualization.
• Experience leading projects, managing priorities, and guiding technical delivery within cross-functional teams.
• Passion for mentoring, enabling teams, and fostering data-driven cultures.

• Python skills are considered a plus, but are not a strict requirement for this position.
