Head of Engineering, Platform

Head of Engineering to lead the Platform Tribe, which comprises three teams responsible for critical domains such as Infrastructure, Reliability and Development Tooling and shared libraries, all of which are essential for Upvest's Investment API. The Platform Tribe exists to give every engineer at Upvest the fastest, safest path from idea to production.

What you'll do

• Own and shape the tribe's roadmap with real autonomy over what we build and why
• Partner closely with product tribes to understand their needs and translate them into platform priorities
• Work with modern tools and technologies, with real influence over our technical direction and stack
• Directly influence the reliability, velocity, and quality of every product we ship

What you'll need

• Ability to bridge strategic "why" with engineering solutions, actively discussing tradeoffs and proactively suggesting ideas, demonstrating a strong product engineering mindset
• Experience in leading and growing larger engineering teams in a technical leadership capacity
• Prior experience within the Fintech domain
• Strong technical expertise and hands-on experience in developing highly scalable, distributed, asynchronous, and resilient platforms
• A security-focused mindset and a high sense of taking ownership

Nice to have

• Experience with API-first and SaaS applications
• Experience building and running microservice-based event driven distributed applications
