AI Inhouse Consultant

About the role

As Upvest's first dedicated Applied AI hire, you'll identify where AI creates the most leverage across the business, help select and integrate the right tooling, and ship solutions that teams actually use. This is a hands-on senior IC role with direct impact on how 290+ people work every day.

What you'll do

• Own AI implementation at Upvest by identifying high-impact opportunities and shipping solutions teams use
• Connect AI tools to Upvest's internal systems, integrating Claude and other LLMs with internal tools, APIs, and data sources via the Model Context Protocol (MCP)
• Identify high-impact automation opportunities, build end-to-end workflows using tools like n8n, and make pragmatic calls about when a simple automation beats a complex agent
• Work 1:1 with colleagues across the business, helping them rethink and optimise how they work with AI
• Run discovery sessions, write internal playbooks, and coach colleagues on prompt engineering and AI tooling
• Navigate data privacy, compliance, and audit requirements in a BaFin and FCA regulated environment

What you'll need

• Hands-on experience shipping AI agents and building end-to-end automations with tools like n8n
• Experience building or working with MCP servers and connecting LLMs to internal tools, APIs and data sources
• Track record upskilling non-technical teams on AI tooling and driving real adoption
• Business acumen connecting technical work to business outcomes and thinking in terms of impact
• Ability to run discovery sessions and present confidently to senior, non-technical audiences
• Experience working in fintech or a closely adjacent field and understanding compliance constraints
• 5+ years in a scale-up in roles such as solutions engineer, technical consultant, AI product engineer, or similar
• Based in Berlin (mandatory); English required; German a plus
