AI First Builder (Design)

About the role

AI is shifting how the best products get built. Taxfix is rebuilding its R&D organization around builders—people who own the full loop from user problem to shipped feature, stretching across product, design, and engineering as the situation demands, using AI to cover the gaps.

What you'll do

• Take a user problem from rough idea to shipped interface. Write the brief, design the flow, prototype it, and ship it, with as few handoffs as possible.
• Use AI tools, Figma, or code, whatever gets there fastest. You use AI to explore, prototype, and accelerate, but your taste is the editorial layer.
• Reason about what the right interaction is from first principles, then build it. Don't reach for a design system component when the user problem calls for something new.
• Notice the detail others miss and push the work to where it needs to be. Sweat the final 10%.
• Work closely with two or three other people who share the same model in small, focused pods.
• Know the metric your team is trying to move. Measure your week by what changed for users, not by screens delivered.
• Give feedback directly, to anyone, regardless of level. Raise blockers early and in the open.
• Read the API spec. Write the brief. Build in code when it's faster than Figma.

What you'll need

• Genuine design craft and a track record to prove it. You've shipped interfaces that real users navigated without explanation.
• Strong visual sensibility, high standards for craft, and an eye for detail. You know what great looks like and can help a team get there.
• Experience producing interfaces built with AI tools, Figma, or code, whatever got there fastest.
• Built personal AI workflows that make you meaningfully faster. You know when to trust AI output, when to edit it, and when to reject it.
• Ability to hold your own across Design, Product, and Engineering. You can ship interfaces people trust, go from user problem to testable prototype, and use AI coding tools to build something real.
• Operated on measurable outcomes, not intuition alone. You know what metric you were trying to move.
• Fluency in English.
