As Director of Commercial Business Development, you are responsible for driving Reflex Aerospace's commercial growth across institutional and commercial markets outside the defence sector. You own the commercial opportunity lifecycle - from identifying and qualifying opportunities to negotiating contracts and securing new business - combining hands-on business development with the long-term market strategy and commercial foundations required to support the company's next stage of growth.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute market strategies for institutional and commercial customers in close collaboration with the VP Strategy & Business Development.
- Build and own a strong commercial pipeline, including opportunity qualification, prioritisation, forecasting, and reporting.
- Lead the full business development lifecycle, from prospecting and customer engagement through proposal development, commercial negotiation, and contract closing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional and commercial customers, including ESA, DLR, European institutions, national agencies, satellite operators, and primes.
- Coordinate cross-functional bid activities, working closely with Engineering, Mission, Finance, Legal, and Leadership teams.
- Help build a world-class commercial team and coordinate commercial efforts to achieve revenue objectives.
What you'll need
- 7+ years of experience in sales, business development, or programme acquisition within the space, aerospace or another deep-tech sector, with a proven track record of defining market strategies and closing complex deals.
- Strong relationships across the commercial space ecosystem, including institutional and commercial customers, primes, and partners.
- In-depth knowledge of the global space industry, including market trends, competitors, procurement processes, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Solid technical understanding of space systems and their applications and ability to translate complex technical capabilities into compelling commercial value propositions.
- Experience building commercial strategies, developing strategic partnerships, and leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Professional proficiency in German is an advantage.
