Working at the intersection of product development, engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and construction, you will identify and realize cost optimization opportunities throughout the building lifecycle. As Senior Cost Optimization Manager - Building Systems, you will play a key role in developing transparent cost structures, challenging technical solutions, and driving value engineering initiatives across our product portfolio.
What you'll do
- Support the development and implementation of the Building Systems Cost Optimization strategy, ensuring cost competitiveness and value creation across the product portfolio
- Apply design-to-cost, should-cost, value engineering, and target-costing methodologies across product development, manufacturing, procurement, and construction functions
- Identify, analyze, and prioritize cost optimization opportunities for building systems, components, materials, and construction interfaces
- Develop and maintain transparent cost models and cost benchmarks, ensuring continuous learning from estimated versus actual cost performance
- Drive cross-functional cost optimization initiatives and support implementation of improvement measures
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Construction, and R&D teams to embed cost awareness into decision-making processes
What you'll need
- Extensive experience in cost engineering, value engineering, construction cost management, design optimization, or technical project delivery within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, contractor interfaces, and project cost drivers
- Proven track record of delivering measurable cost reductions and business impact through cross-functional initiatives
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate technical solutions into financial outcomes
- Usual business travel between our sites expected
- Fluent English language skills
Nice to have
- Experience with industrialized construction, modular building systems, prefabrication, or high-volume manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with timber construction, German-speaking construction markets, and digital costing tools
- Lean Six Sigma certification and/or demonstrated experience applying continuous improvement methodologies
- Fluent German language skills
