Your mission at Green Fusion

Green Fusion is a 100-person climate tech company optimizing heating systems at scale across Germany, with expansion into France. We connect to building infrastructure via proprietary hardware, collect real-time data, and deliver energy savings through algorithmic optimization.

We’re transitioning from fast, early-stage execution to a more structured, product-led engineering organization and need help making that shift work in practice.

As VP of Engineering, you will partner up with our CTO, CPO & CEngO to take our technology organization to the next growth level. You’ll own how we develop across all tech teams and bring the structural clarity our growing organization needs. You’ll have clear decision-making authority over engineering processes, standards, and team structure, in close partnership with the CTO.

What You’ll Own

People

  • Unify delivery process across 5+ Squads and with 35+ technical team members, including software and hardware engineers, designers, data scientists, and system engineers.

  • Shape leadership culture for the technical teams and mentor leaders in your team, and develop junior managers from within the team

Processes

  • Establish engineering standards: introduce consistent development processes, quality gates, and clear boundaries between discovery/prototyping and delivery

  • Drive tech-roadmap discipline, increase alignment between engineering work and product priorities, reducing unplanned work while enabling balanced innovation initiatives

  • Raise engineering throughput via AI-assisted development workflows

Technology

  • Tackle tech debt and platform scalability: identify and execute the highest-leverage architectural improvements

  • Drive the technology roadmap (with the CTO & CPO), aligning platform and infrastructure investments with product/customer priorities



Your profile

  • 15+ years in software engineering, with significant leadership experience - ideally as CTO or VP Engineering at startups or scale-ups that have surpassed 50 technical team members

  • Experience building engineering organizations (hiring, leveling, process design, team structure), not just managing them; especially with empowered, cross-functional product teams (Squads and Chapter model)

  • Strong architectural judgment across cloud infrastructure (AWS), data systems, and hardware/software integration (if necessary supported by further external resources)

  • Comfort operating in ambiguity - able to impose structure without waiting for perfect information

  • Embracing of AI as a key enabler in building technology organisations today

  • People-first leadership: experienced in coaching managers, resolving cross-team friction, and raising the performance bar and inviting people to become their best self

  • Fluent English required; German strongly preferred

  • Preferred: Experience in energy, IoT, or hardware-software integration domains

  • Track record of cloud migration or platform modernization
