Lead a hybrid team building and scaling Doctolib's self-service integration platform to enable seamless, secure connectivity between healthcare systems. You will own end-to-end delivery of integration projects, drive backend architecture decisions, and partner with cross-market teams to align on platform priorities.
What you'll do
- Lead a hybrid team of ~8 engineers (internal employees and contractors), growing internal talent while holding contractors accountable for delivery
- Own end-to-end delivery of integration projects on the platform, ensuring reliability, scalability, and building to national interoperability standards with full compliance to healthcare standards (HL7, FHIR R5/R6)
- Drive backend architecture decisions in a JVM-focused stack (Java, Kotlin), championing FHIR-native design and interoperability best practices
- Build integrations as a platform that scales across partners, countries and products
- Partner with Product, and cross-market engineering teams across France, Germany, and Italy to align on platform priorities and roadmap
- Champion AI adoption within the team, enabling MCP-native patterns and AI-assisted integration tooling as part of Doctolib's platform strategy
- Mentor and grow internal engineers, while maintaining high delivery standards and engagement with your full team
What you'll need
- At least 6+ years of software engineering experience and 3+ years of engineering management experience, including leading large or hybrid teams (internal engineers + contractors), ideally 8+ people
- Strong background in backend and system-to-system integration: APIs, middleware, and healthcare data exchanges, with hands-on familiarity with JVM ecosystems (Java, Kotlin)
- Experience with healthcare IT integrations, including standards such as HL7 and FHIR, and working within regulated, compliance-driven environments
- Ability to differentiate your management approach between developing internal engineers and driving delivery from external contractor profiles, with proven success in both
Nice to have
- Exposure to AI tooling in engineering workflows: coding agents, LLM-assisted development, or MCP-native patterns
- Experience delivering products across multiple countries or international markets
What they offer
- Deutschlandticket (Germany-wide public transport pass) fully paid by Doctolib
- 28 vacation days + 1 additional day for each full calendar year of employment (up to 30 days maximum)
- Company health insurance and pension scheme (bAV) with 40% employer subsidy
- Doctolib Parent Care program with one month additional parental leave
- Free mental health and coaching services through Moka.care, subsidized sports membership
- Flexible workplace policy with hybrid and office-based options, relocation support
