Lead the AI Practice Efficiency team to define and deliver how AI transforms the daily work of healthcare professionals across intelligent scheduling, automated document processing, smart task management, and AI-assisted patient communication. You will lead teams building AI-powered features across two horizons: augmenting existing practice workflows with intelligent capabilities, and pioneering net-new AI-native products that unlock entirely new value for practitioners and their patients.

What you'll do

  • Lead and scale 1 engineering team owning the AI Practice Efficiency scope: manage teams delivering AI features across practice workflows — intelligent scheduling, automated document processing, smart task management, and AI-assisted patient communication. Champion delivers excellence by unblocking teams, setting high execution standards, and accelerating the pace of experimentation and production release, with an initial focus on the Phone assistant, currently one of Doctolib's most strategic product bets that we need to grow.
  • Define and execute the AI product-engineering strategy: in close partnership with Product, Data Science, and Design, set the technical direction for AI Practice Efficiency — deciding when to build vs. buy, how to evaluate and select foundation models, when to fine-tune, and how to architect for safety, explainability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Own responsible AI delivery in a regulated context: ensure AI features are built with appropriate safeguards for a healthcare environment, covering evaluation frameworks, human-in-the-loop design, data privacy (GDPR/HDS), explainability, and bias mitigation.
  • Drive cross-domain AI adoption and platform thinking: collaborate with other engineering streams and the broader AI platform teams to ensure shared AI infrastructure, tooling, and evaluation frameworks both benefit from — and contribute to — your teams' work.

What you'll need

  • At least 12+ years of engineering experience, with significant time leading managers and senior ICs in fast-paced, high-growth technology environments — and a proven ability to run multiple teams across complex, interdependent scopes without losing clarity on outcomes
  • A track record of shipping AI or ML-powered features to real users at scale, with full lifecycle ownership: from problem framing and data requirements through model evaluation, integration, monitoring, and iteration
  • Hands-on with LLM integration, RAG architectures, fine-tuning tradeoffs, evaluation frameworks, and inference constraints — you see prototyping as a leadership tool
  • Sharp product instinct for where AI creates genuine clinical value, combined with a clear framework for navigating responsible AI delivery in a regulated, high-trust healthcare context (GDPR/HDS, explainability, human oversight)
  • Exceptional people leadership: you deliberately adapt your leadership approach based on context, actively mentor other managers, and build environments where engineers grow and AI craftsmanship continuously rises
  • Fluent in English

Nice to have

  • Experience building AI in healthcare, financial services, or another domain where safety, explainability, and auditability are non-negotiable
  • Experience shipping AI that touches clinical workflows, medical terminology, or patient-facing communications
  • Experience building AI products that work across languages and regulatory frameworks

What they offer

  • Deutschlandticket (Germany-wide public transport pass) fully paid by Doctolib
  • 28 vacation days + 1 additional day for each full calendar year of employment (up to 30 days)
  • Work from abroad up to 10 days per year through flexibility days policy
  • Company health insurance with supplementary benefits through Allianz
  • Company pension scheme (bAV) through Allianz with 40% employer subsidy
  • Access to best AI tools for coding, development, and dedicated training
