What you'll do

  • Co-design and build features across the full stack, from database to UI
  • Work directly with product management, design and users to get the details right
  • Help raise the bar on frontend quality by contributing to a consistent design language, readable layouts and UI patterns
  • Work on reliable and accurate processing of smart meter measurement data and build and maintain import pipelines and billing automation
  • Help automate operational processes around project setup, metering data, contract management and billing
  • Instrument, optimize and monitor critical processes so they remain fast, reliable and dependable as the company scales

  • Continuously improve the development environment and engineering processes, including adopting the right tools, workflows and AI-powered development practices

What you'll need

  • 2+ years of professional experience building full-stack web applications, ideally with Ruby on Rails
  • Strong frontend development skills with solid fundamentals (HTML, CSS and JavaScript), and familiarity with both the Rails way (Hotwire, Turbo and Stimulus) and a framework like React or Vue
  • An eye for UI and UX — you know interface patterns, think from a user's point of view and have worked with design systems
  • Solid hands-on experience designing and optimizing relational database schemas (PostgreSQL)
  • Experience working with APIs and integrating with 3rd-party services
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure — Heroku, AWS, or similar — including CI/CD pipelines and basic monitoring
  • Actively working with AI and pushing for efficient agentic setups
  • Based in Berlin or willing to relocate

Nice to have

  • Willingness to learn energy industry terms in English and German and comfort with some parts of the company operating mostly in German

  • Competitive salary including shares based on level of experience
  • Real ownership — shape VREY actively from day one with responsibility for tasks end-to-end
  • Visible impact — ship features every day that make a difference for customers
  • Personal and professional growth with skilled and experienced people to learn from
  • Office in Berlin-Friedrichshain with free drinks, cereals, fruits, and plenty of lunch options nearby
