About the role
The Strategic Finance team sits at the centre of Upvest's most impactful decisions. As a Senior Strategic Finance Associate, you will play a central role in defining Upvest's long-term financial direction. You will lead core planning cycles, own the comprehensive financial model, and work hand-in-hand with leaders across the business to assess major initiatives and ensure capital is deployed with discipline.
What you'll do
- Build, own, and continuously evolve sophisticated financial models (3-statement) to capture complex business dynamics and improve how we look at our business to support strategic decision-making.
- Own defined workstreams within rolling forecasts, annual planning, and management reporting—producing clear performance narratives that articulate variances, underlying drivers, and their broader business implications.
- Drive the evaluation of major business initiatives, including new product launches, strategic partnerships, and new market entry, with a focus on margin optimisation and profitability.
- Partner closely with the Data team to build scalable, data-driven financial frameworks that go beyond traditional reporting.
- Collaborate with the Risk team to ensure our financial models provide the necessary foundation for regulatory capital planning and build business cases for license applications.
- Analyse financial and operational performance metrics, growth trajectories, and competitive positioning to surface actionable insights for senior leaders.
- Leverage financial tech stack (Abacum, BigQuery, Looker) and AI tools to automate workflows and streamline reporting.
- Prepare high-quality materials and analysis for Business Leaders, the Executive Management Team, and the Board of Directors.
What you'll need
- 3–5+ years in Strategic Finance (FP&A), Investment Banking, Management Consulting, Private Equity, Venture Capital, or a comparable analytically rigorous role.
- Advanced financial modelling skills and strong analytical capability—able to handle complexity while keeping outputs clear, concise, and decision-ready.
- Solid understanding of corporate finance and accounting fundamentals (CFA, ACA or equivalent qualification is an advantage).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills—you can distil complex analysis into crisp narratives for both finance and non-finance audiences.
- Proficiency in modern FP&A tools (e.g., Abacum, Planful, Anaplan) is an advantage.
