About the role
As an Associate in our Brokerage Operations team, you will be at the forefront of our daily capital markets activities. You will take responsibility for executing and monitoring order flows, managing operational risks, and driving the operational rollout of new investment products.
What you'll do
- Oversee the daily monitoring of trade executions and order flows. Ensure client trades are processed accurately, promptly, and in strict adherence to our Best Execution policies.
- Monitor automated and algorithmic trading flows, manage daily operational risks, handle mismatches, and actively resolve trade-related incidents and mistrades.
- Conduct continuous monitoring of trading activities to identify potential market abuse. Prepare, review, and submit data for regulatory reporting obligations (such as MiFIR, MAR, and Best Execution).
- Manage, maintain, and help expand our offered investment universe across various European and EMEA jurisdictions, ensuring all assets align with local regulatory frameworks and operational setups.
- Execute daily operational processes surrounding trading, specifically handling the execution workflows for equities, mutual funds, and ELTIFs (European Long-Term Investment Funds).
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Compliance teams to ensure operational readiness for new brokerage product launches and feature rollouts.
- Identify operational bottlenecks, leverage data to propose solutions, and continuously improve our internal trading infrastructure and documentation.
What you'll need
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience (or highly relevant, extended internships) in brokerage operations, trading, middle office, or execution management within a financial institution or fintech.
- A strong, demonstrable passion for financial markets, trading dynamics, and data analysis.
- Solid understanding of market structures, the complete trade lifecycle, and various financial instruments, specifically equities, mutual funds, and ELTIFs.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills. You are comfortable diving into complex data to troubleshoot issues proactively.
- Experience working with trading platforms, market data tools (like Bloomberg), and order management systems. Proficiency in data tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, or Python) is a strong plus.
- Fluency in English is required; German is a strong plus.
What they offer
- 30 days of annual leave and sports benefits.
- Professional coaching and remote work flexibility up to 183 days a year.
- UpRest: one-month fully paid sabbatical after every 4 years at Upvest.
- Personal development budget.
- Work hybrid or remotely from Berlin, London, Tallinn or across Europe.
- Competitive, above-market salary and employee equity program.
