About the role
As a Senior Retail Designer, you will shape how SumUp shows up in brick-and-mortar and marketplace environments—from structural packaging and in-store execution to 3D product visualisation. This is a high-impact role where you will own key initiatives such as retail structural packaging, partnering closely with Hardware, Product, Marketing, and Logistics to deliver production-ready assets on time and to a high standard.
What you'll do
- Lead Retail & Packaging Design: Design cohesive retail journeys across physical and digital touchpoints, leading structural packaging design that balances shelf impact with production, sustainability, and compliance constraints.
- Drive Creative Production & 3D: Create high-fidelity 3D renders and assets for all products, defining scalable workflows and standards for motion and central design teams.
- Execute Production-Ready Assets: Deliver technical, vendor-ready assets for packaging, displays, and digital storefronts (including Amazon) that meet all regulatory and channel specifications.
- Build Modular Systems: Evolve modular retail toolkits and visual standards that allow regional teams to localise assets efficiently while maintaining global brand consistency.
- Manage Stakeholders & Projects: Proactively manage high-risk, high-cost projects, providing clear visibility on timelines and risks to leadership while running structured feedback sessions.
- Champion Compliance & Strategy: Integrate local compliance regulations into master assets and act as a consultant for digital journeys to ensure a seamless end-to-end customer experience.
What you'll need
- Extensive experience in retail and structural packaging design, with a proven ability to deliver production-ready assets across physical and digital environments.
- Advanced proficiency in 3D visualisation and rendering, with the ability to define standards and templates for scalable creative execution.
- Strong technical understanding of materials, fabrication, and vendor management, including the ability to resolve feasibility constraints early in the design process.
- Mastery of design systems and CMS/DAM tools to manage complex workflows, version control, and multi-market templates.
- Senior-level autonomy in scoping projects, prioritising competing tasks, and navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to frame technical challenges in commercially relevant terms for leadership.
- Collaborative mindset, skilled at partnering with Hardware, Engineering, and Marketing teams to bridge the gap between print and digital retail journeys.
What they offer
- Virtual Stock Option programme — own a stake in SumUp's future success.
- Dedicated annual L&D budget of €2,000 for conferences or further education.
- Corporate pension scheme with up to 20% contribution matching.
- 28 days paid leave plus public holidays and special leave days.
- Urban Sports Club subsidy, Kita placement assistance, subsidised office lunches.
- 1-month sabbatical (Break4me) after 3 years of service.
