About the role

The Network Engineering team is part of the Core Tribe, which manages the cloud platform that underpins Scalable's entire infrastructure. The team delivers all core network services at scale, leveraging the latest cloud-native technologies and maintaining highly available connections to external partners. This role can be based in either Berlin or Munich.

What you'll do

  • Improve Scalable's cloud infrastructure and automation using tools such as AWS, Terraform, and general-purpose languages like Python or Go
  • Design, maintain, and operate multiple cloud networks on AWS, providing a secure and highly available infrastructure for internal development teams
  • Maintain financial middleware systems, ensuring high-availability connectivity for critical applications and partner integrations
  • Support, guide and empower engineering teams to further strengthen the DevOps culture

What you'll need

  • Multiple years of hands-on experience with core AWS services, including: EC2, VPC, Transit Gateway, Private Link, Route 53, CloudFront and ELB
  • Proficient and experienced with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform
  • Proficient in at least one general-purpose programming language like Python or Go
  • Preferably experience with Network Firewall, WAF, Site-to-Site VPN, Client VPN, Direct Connect, ECS / Fargate, Lambda, API Gateway, and S3
  • A passion for automating and improving processes while keeping security and reliability in mind
  • A degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. computer science, engineering, sciences) or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely in an international English-speaking environment

Nice to have

  • Experience in managing VPNs and/or Leased Lines, plus low level network debugging (tcpdump), and Cisco IOS XE (IPsec and GRE)
