About the role
We are building the infrastructure that powers the next generation of investment products. As we scale and navigate an incoming wave of new regulations, we need a sharp, experienced legal mind to join our growing Legal team. This is not a standard in-house legal role — you will work on highly creative, non-standard, and intellectually stimulating legal work in a fast-moving, largely uncharted space.
What you'll do
- Own the contract work, drafting contracts from scratch in novel investment products where templates rarely exist
- Review and negotiate agreements received from partners, clients and counterparties, representing lemon.markets' interests with confidence
- Enable product development by acting as a critical legal checkpoint for ideas from Product and Sales teams
- Monitor regulatory developments in securities law, capital markets law and banking law, translating changes into concrete contract language
- Support the General Counsel in shaping the company's legal strategy, including European expansion
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Compliance, AML, Data Protection and other teams
- Advise senior leadership as subject-matter expert and deputy to the General Counsel
What you'll need
- Fully qualified German lawyer (Volljurist) with 3 to 8 years of post-qualification experience
- Solid, hands-on expertise in securities law, capital markets law, and/or banking law, ideally from a major law firm, Fintech or Banking environment
- Strong foundations in contract law and comfort drafting agreements without templates
- German and English at C1 level (near-native) for negotiation and advisory at the highest level
- Genuine autonomy; you drive tasks forward without waiting to be told
- Ability to translate complex legal questions into plain language for engineers, product managers and business teams
- Resilience and creativity; you see absence of precedent as an opportunity to think outside the box
- Comfort working in multicultural, interdisciplinary teams with strong collaboration across functions
What they offer
- Competitive salary based on your experience
- Flexible working hours with core hours 12:00-16:00
- Part-time friendly (minimum 25 hours/week)
- Hybrid work from Germany; 4+ days/month on-site in Berlin
- Mentorship, stretch opportunities, and annual learning budget
- Deutschlandticket sponsorship, 50% off Beatvest, and up to 60 days workation per year in the EU
