About the role

You'll join lemon.markets' growing Legal team as a sharp, experienced legal mind helping to define the rulebook in a fast-moving, largely uncharted space. Working closely with the General Counsel, you'll take on high degree of personal ownership with strong visibility to senior management, including Managing Directors and Founder.

What you'll do

  • Own contract work, drafting agreements from scratch in a non-standard space where templates rarely exist, creating the language that makes novel investment products legally enforceable.
  • Review and negotiate agreements received from partners, clients and counterparties, and represent lemon.markets' interests with confidence in negotiations.
  • Enable product development by acting as a critical legal checkpoint for ideas from Product and Sales teams, translating innovative concepts into legally feasible offerings.
  • Monitor regulatory developments particularly in securities law, capital markets law and banking law, translating regulatory changes into concrete contract language.
  • Support the General Counsel in shaping the company's legal strategy, including European expansion.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Compliance, AML, Data Protection, and other teams.
  • Advise senior leadership as subject-matter expert and deputy to the General Counsel.

What you'll need

  • Fully qualified German lawyer (Volljurist) with 3 to 8 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Solid, hands-on expertise in securities law, capital markets law, and/or banking law, ideally from a major law firm, Fintech or Banking environment.
  • Strong foundations in contract law and comfortable drafting agreements where no template exists.
  • German and English at C1 level (near-native).
  • Autonomous with ability to drive tasks forward without waiting to be told.
  • Can translate complex legal questions into plain language for engineers, product managers and business teams.
  • Resilient and creative, not rattled by absence of precedent.
  • Curious and open-minded, willing to explore adjacent areas of law as business evolves.

What they offer

  • Competitive salary based on your experience and value-add.
  • Flexible working hours with core hours 12:00-16:00 for collaboration.
  • Part-time friendly with minimum 25 hours/week commitment.
  • Hybrid work setup in Germany; 4+ days per month on-site in Berlin office.
  • Regular mentorship, stretch opportunities, and annual learning budget.
  • Deutschlandticket sponsor and 50% off Beatvest financial education.
