Freelance Mobile Platform Engineer

Foundation is responsible for the technical base that Knowunity's product teams build on. We are looking for a freelance Mobile Platform Engineer to help shape and maintain this foundation, with focus on the mobile app and genuine interest in the full scope of Foundation's work.

What you'll do

• Own the core of our Flutter app: shared components, the design system, performance, and tooling.
• Define how we build features - the patterns we use, how we manage state, and how the app integrates with backend services - and guide product teams in applying them.
• Improve the end-to-end developer workflow, from CI/CD and store distribution to internal tooling and faster feedback loops.
• Integrate AI tooling into our codebase and workflows, and help determine its role in the product.
• Keep the existing foundation healthy and dependable, so product teams can build on it with confidence.

What you'll need

• Several years of experience delivering production software at scale, ideally including responsibility for the architecture of a mobile application.
• Strong, multi year experience in building mobile apps with Flutter and Dart.
• Solid mobile DevOps experience - CI/CD, store distribution, and release management.
• A genuine interest in AI as an engineering surface; curiosity matters more than formal background.
• A preference for improving the systems that slow others down, with clear reasoning about trade-offs and effective communication across teams.
