About the role
As the Associate Director of Engineering - RevTech, you will be the founding engineering leader of a brand-new domain that owns the full commercial technology stack powering item selection, pricing, promotions, retail media campaigns, and product data flow. Paired with the VP of Revenue, you will shape the technical vision, hire and grow the teams, and deliver the systems that directly drive Flink's gross profit and assortment relevance.
What you'll do
- Lead the RevTech engineering organization by inheriting a small group of engineers and growing it into a cohesive, high-performing group across multiple product teams — including Assortment, Master Data & ERP, Pricing & Promotions, and Commercial Back-office
- Partner with the VP of Revenue to own the domain roadmap, prioritize across teams, balance build-vs-buy decisions, and ensure engineering investment maps tightly to commercial outcomes like use-case coverage, GP per category, and pricing automation
- Hire and develop engineering managers and engineers for key roles, including an EM for Pricing & Promotions, backend and frontend engineers, and a data scientist
- Drive technical excellence in a greenfield-meets-brownfield context by defining technical strategy that brings coherence — shared APIs, data contracts, service boundaries, and on-call practices across critical teams
- Navigate a matrix organization where engineers functionally report into the CTO organization while being embedded in the RevTech domain
- Champion AI and automation across the commercial stack to optimize processes via intelligent systems — from data-driven assortment engines and automated pricing to product data enrichment and demand forecasting
- Represent engineering in commercial conversations and translate challenges from Revenue, Marketing, Supply Chain stakeholders into well-scoped engineering problems
- Manage the relationship with an external development partner building some systems, ensuring quality, architecture alignment, and a clean path to internalization
