Backend Engineer (AI Agents/Workflows)

About the role

You'll be a backend engineer building AI-integrated services for an industrial trade platform that connects suppliers and buyers across global markets. You'll work on backend systems that power AI-driven features, APIs, and distributed systems that handle complex supply chain workflows.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend services that integrate AI/ML capabilities
• Build clean, maintainable, and reusable code with focus on scalability and performance
• Develop and optimize APIs that power AI-driven features
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to connect user experiences with AI-enabled backend logic
• Implement and improve distributed systems and data pipelines
• Work with LLM APIs (OpenAI, etc.) to build intelligent workflows and automation
• Participate in code reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, and architecture discussions
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies and backend best practices

What you'll need

• 3-5 years as a backend or full-stack engineer with AI/ML integration exposure
• Solid programming skills in Java (Spring Boot) and familiarity with Python
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or BigQuery) and efficient query writing
• Comfortable with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and CI/CD tooling
• Understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and microservices
• Interest or experience building AI-enabled products (OpenAI API, fine-tuning, prompt engineering)
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proactive, collaborative mindset with eagerness to contribute ideas
