Senior Director, Head of Tax

About the role

As Senior Director Tax, you will lead the Group Tax Department overseeing all group-wide tax matters and managing a team of four professionals. This strategic yet hands-on role involves developing tax optimization strategies, leading audits, and working closely with the CFO and leadership team to ensure compliance and support special projects.

What you'll do

• Lead and manage the Group Tax Department with direct responsibility for four skilled professionals
• Oversee all group-wide tax matters, collaborating with local and international group companies on corporate tax law
• Develop and evolve group tax and transfer pricing strategy while identifying optimization opportunities
• Ensure tax compliance including preparing corporate income tax and VAT returns for German group companies
• Manage deferred tax positions in annual, consolidated, and quarterly financial statements and financial planning
• Lead tax audits and appeal proceedings, select and coordinate external consultants

What you'll need

• 10+ years of professional experience in a leadership role within an international company's tax department or leading tax consultancy
• Proven track record of leading and motivating high-performing teams with hands-on attitude for complex tax matters
• Degree in economics, business, or law with taxation focus, ideally with German tax advisor certification
• Strong knowledge of German and international tax law
• Analytical, structured, goal-oriented approach with comfort using data and advanced analytics
• Excellent German and English language skills
