Senior Data Engineer

About the role

As a Senior Data Engineer at Moonfare, you'll drive day-to-day operations by designing and developing robust data pipelines that provide real-time data to analysts. You'll be part of a small team responsible for scaling BI data infrastructure and implementing scalable solutions as the business rapidly expands.

What you'll do

• Manage and scale BI data infrastructure by developing and maintaining data pipelines from ingestion to storage
• Model data using data lake/warehouse concepts and optimize performance through partitioning and tuning
• Champion standards, processes and best practices as a central figure in a small team
• Implement security measures including IAM, encryption, data classification, and PII handling
• Conduct data analysis experiments and provide bespoke solutions to stakeholders
• Collaborate with analysts and domain stakeholders to translate requirements into data solutions
• Ensure high quality data through cleansing, coding consistency and availability standards
• Contribute ideas and bring new tools, topics and methodologies to the BI team

What you'll need

• 5+ years experience as a Data Engineer, ideally in regulated financial services
• Expert-level skills in designing data pipelines using Apache Spark and Hadoop ecosystem
• Strong background in AWS cloud infrastructure and hands-on experience with data lakes and modern data warehouses
• Proven programming experience with Scala and Python, comfortable with code reviews
• Working knowledge of DBT (models, tests, documentation) and BI tools like Tableau
• Experience with relational databases, data warehouses and advanced SQL queries
• Experience with CI/CD, bash scripting, Docker and Kubernetes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
