Senior Software Engineer - Energy Platform

About the role

In the Energy Platform, you own the integration and digital operation of Enpal's products installed at customer homes. From controlling heatpumps, to making your wallbox smarter, or trading your energy on the market for you, you provide the platform for all Enpal's energy products. You'll span everything from embedded engineering of IoT hardware, to running cloud infrastructure to process and steer the fleet, and building user experience.

What you'll do

• Build software delivering incremental value in each iteration, improving people's experience with the solution and making an impact towards climate goals.
• Improve developer happiness by improving stability, automating load tests and vulnerability scans, and eliminating manual regression testing.
• Work on architecture and vision, analyzing new requirements and exploring opportunities to solve organization-spanning challenges with elegant architectural solutions.
• Steer for empathy and understanding by asking critical questions and listening to operations, craftspeople, sales, and other stakeholders to balance their needs.
• Grow and learn from team knowledge while sharing your expertise in areas like Kafka, graceful degradation, test-driven development, and cloud technologies.

What you'll need

• Proven track record of delivering high-quality software products that are scalable, flexible, maintainable, and testable.
• Ability to independently set up and manage pipelines, infrastructure, and deployment of your code without relying on dedicated DevOps/Infrastructure teams.
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure and managing full implementation of these services into projects.
• Experience with microservice architecture and strong knowledge of software architecture design patterns, including Event Driven Architecture.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of German is an advantage.
• Collaborative mindset, thriving in team environments, actively contributing to discussions, and open to giving and receiving feedback.
• Agile and lean mindset, prioritizing people over processes and focusing on building MVPs and evolving solutions as requirements grow.

Nice to have

• Experience with C#, React, Flutter, or MongoDB.
