IT Systems Specialist

About the role

The Systems Engineer Specialist is a key member of the IT Infrastructure team, responsible for the administration, configuration, and continuous improvement of core IT systems supporting end-user devices, identity, and enterprise applications. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining secure, reliable, and efficient IT platforms across the Microsoft ecosystem and related tooling.

What you'll do

• Administer and maintain core IT systems including Microsoft Entra (Azure AD), Intune, JAMF, Office 365, MS Defender, and Atlassian tools.
• Monitor system performance, apply updates, and ensure optimal uptime for critical IT services.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd-level support for IT systems and infrastructure issues, resolving escalated incidents efficiently.
• Support and maintain Cisco Meraki infrastructure (APs, switches, security appliances), manage VPN access, and troubleshoot network performance.
• Implement and maintain identity and access management controls including MFA, Conditional Access policies, and RBAC.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for routine tasks.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.

What you'll need

• Proven experience in a similar role, managing enterprise IT systems in a medium-to-large organization.
• Deep expertise in administering Microsoft Entra (Azure AD), Intune, JAMF, Office 365, MS Defender, and Atlassian tools.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including IP addressing, DNS, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Scripting and automation experience (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for task automation and system management.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a logical and methodical approach to diagnosing issues.
• Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Microsoft, Azure, Modern Desktop Administrator, or JAMF certifications strongly preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cisco Meraki infrastructure.
• ITIL certification or experience with IT service management frameworks.
