Senior Data Scientist

About the role

As a Senior Data Scientist in the Decision Science group, you'll be a cross-domain expert responsible for designing, developing, and productionizing scalable machine learning solutions across critical business areas like fraud prevention, credit risk, and portfolio optimization. This role requires deep business understanding and the ability to drive measurable impact on Billie's strategic goals through end-to-end ML solution delivery.

What you'll do

• Drive technical solution and execution of high-quality ML solutions across multiple domains from conception to production
• Apply quantitative analysis, data mining, and advanced ML to model complex business patterns and optimize real-time decision engine logic
• Define and execute analytics for complex cross-domain problems, including hypothesis development, A/B test design, and synthesizing results into actionable insights
• Serve as technical leader and subject matter expert within cross-functional teams to enhance decision engine functionality
• Ensure successful deployment and operationalization of ML services, collaborating closely with Engineering teams

What you'll need

• 6+ years of experience in data-driven, quantitative, or machine learning roles with demonstrable ML expertise
• Hands-on proficiency in Python (pandas, scikit-learn, xgboost, PyTorch/TensorFlow) and SQL (Snowflake, BigQuery)
• Expertise in applying and productionizing advanced ML models (classification, deep learning, anomaly detection, graph networks)
• Proven experience with ML service deployment and modern MLOps concepts including containerization and model monitoring
• Experience with orchestration frameworks like Metaflow, Kubeflow, or Airflow
• Hands-on experience with graph databases (Neo4j) for modeling interconnected data
• Strong business acumen and ability to translate complex problems into technical requirements
• Excellent communication and data storytelling skills

Nice to have

• Experience developing data science solutions in fraud, credit risk, or fintech/risk domains
• Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau
