About the role
As a Deployed AI Engineer at Helsing, you'll integrate state-of-the-art AI software into complex defense systems and work directly with customers to deliver novel capabilities. You'll own the end-to-end outcome of taking cutting-edge software and making it work in challenging real-world environments, including collaborating with customer engineers and adapting unfamiliar systems.
What you'll do
- Collaborate directly with customer avionics engineers to understand data structures and APIs in aircraft mission control systems
- Implement adapters for integrating complex databases, APIs, and network protocols with Helsing's cloud infrastructure
- Work closely with product teams to discover customer requirements, identify bugs, and ship features directly to users
- Coordinate technology demonstrations between customers, partners, and Helsing engineers to showcase AI capabilities
- Continuously evolve, improve, and operate Helsing software in production environments
- Navigate unfamiliar systems and legacy infrastructure to make them work effectively
What you'll need
- Degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or related field
- Broad understanding and creative use of computer systems
- Experience with scripting languages (Bash or Python) and software engineering in C++, Java, Rust, or similar
- Ability to navigate and configure Linux systems
- Understanding of network stacks and database systems
- Comfort working with legacy systems and complex integrations
- Business level or fluent German (for Germany positions)
Nice to have
- Experience with Rust and Python
- Experience with container-based, cloud-native and edge application architectures
- Experience with production monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
- Experience with SQL, NoSQL, and streaming database systems
- Experience with production ML systems
- Professional experience working in a defense context
