About the role

N26 is seeking a Retail Credit Risk Manager to lead the credit risk function at their technology-driven bank. You'll spearhead analytical solutions and credit risk models for unsecured retail lending while taking a key role in assessing, controlling and reporting credit risks.

What you'll do

  • Drive evolution of retail credit risk frameworks and take methodological ownership of the end-to-end credit cycle
  • Oversee development, calibration, and maintenance of credit risk models (PD, LGD, CCF, Debt-Servicing Ability, Early Warning Systems)
  • Monitor portfolio quality and accuracy of loan loss provisioning under IFRS 9
  • Design and maintain automated process controls and monitoring frameworks for fully automated credit processes
  • Oversee quality, availability, and lineage of credit risk data across internal and external sources
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with prudential and consumer/data regulations
  • Act as primary contact for internal/external auditors and supervisory inquiries
  • Lead and develop a team of credit risk experts in a cross-functional environment

What you'll need

  • 5+ years experience in Credit Risk Management within retail segment
  • BSc/MSc in quantitative field (Applied Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Quantitative Finance, Statistics, Econometrics, or Engineering)
  • European market expertise in retail credit risk management and unsecured lending products
  • Experience building end-to-end credit process cycles and portfolio monitoring
  • Proven experience in credit risk modeling (PD, LGD, CCF) and Machine Learning techniques
  • Strong technical background in Python and SQL with solid data management skills
  • Regulatory expertise in EBA Guidelines, MaRisk, GDPR, EU AI Act
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Fluent English with excellent communication skills

Nice to have

  • PhD or FRM qualification
  • German language proficiency
  • Experience from both established retail banks and challenger banks
