About the role

As a Forward Deployed Engineer focused on VoIP, you'll be the deep SIP/telephony expert embedded in critical customer integrations. You'll own the end-to-end technical path from phone rings to bot answers, working across carriers, SIP trunks, SBCs, and enterprise telephony constraints to make Parloa work flawlessly in real-world enterprise environments.

What you'll do

  • Lead technical execution of VoIP/SIP connectivity for enterprise customers and partners from PoCs through production
  • Architect integrations via SIP trunking providers, direct trunks, or enterprise telephony infrastructure
  • Debug complex signaling and media problems using logs and network traces to find root causes
  • Navigate enterprise constraints like strict firewall policies and regulatory requirements
  • Work directly with customer telecom, network, and platform teams on architectures and testing
  • Support telephony partner integrations and resolve escalations
  • Build utilities, scripts, or lightweight services to validate assumptions and automate diagnostics
  • Define best practices for NAT traversal, resiliency, monitoring, and incident response
  • Translate field learnings into product feedback and platform improvements

What you'll need

  • 5+ years of professional experience in VoIP/telephony engineering, SIP integrations, or telecom consulting
  • Strong hands-on expertise with SIP-based integrations, call routing, and network troubleshooting
  • Solid understanding of signaling vs media flows, failure modes, and diagnostic approaches
  • Practical experience with SIP trunking providers, SBCs, enterprise PBX/contact center setups
  • Ability to operate in ambiguous situations and drive issues to resolution with multiple stakeholders
  • Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Builder mindset - design fixes, validate them, and make them repeatable
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Nice to have

  • Cloud-native experience, especially Azure
  • Kubernetes environments experience
  • Experience building integration tooling in scripting or backend languages
