General Counsel

About the role

Lead AMBOSS's legal function as General Counsel, reporting to the Co-CEO. This is a commercial leadership role with a legal foundation—you will be the primary legal voice at leadership level, advising on decisions around M&A, financing, product launches, market expansions, and risk management across all markets.

What you'll do

• Be a true business partner to the Executive Team, advising the Co-CEOs and senior stakeholders on the legal and risk dimensions of major decisions and day-to-day commercial questions.
• Lead risk management across the business by identifying, prioritising, and managing legal and regulatory risk, setting frameworks the business can use, and embedding risk thinking in decision-making.
• Build and lead AMBOSS's legal team of currently 3 team members through hiring, developing, and leading lawyers as the company scales, while leveraging AI and modern legal tooling to operate with leverage.
• Cover the full legal spectrum: IP, corporate governance, regulatory matters, employment, commercial contracts, and corporate records, with comfort in cross-border legal questions.

What you'll need

• A completed legal qualification, ideally in German law, with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience, including a substantial period in-house at a fast-moving company.
• Demonstrated experience leading a legal team of meaningful size, with a clear preference for leadership over individual contribution.
• A track record of making and owning risk-based decisions in a commercial environment, and translating legal complexity into clear, actionable guidance for non-lawyers.
• Solid grounding in corporate law, with hands-on exposure to M&A, financing rounds, or significant commercial transactions.
• Meaningful experience in a technology company or similarly complex, fast-moving environment, including familiarity with the legal landscape for digital products.
• A pragmatic, hands-on interest in AI and legal technology, and a track record of using these tools to make legal work faster and more scalable.
