Senior Backend VPP Software Engineer - TypeScript

About the role

As a backend engineer in the B2C domain, you'll build and scale virtual power plant infrastructure using the "Heartbeat" energy manager. You'll develop backend services that integrate energy management solutions with various energy markets to enable seamless renewable energy operations.

What you'll do

• Build and optimize backend services for VPP operations and energy market integrations
• Design and implement APIs and abstraction layers for energy market integration solutions
• Optimize backend services for scalability to support large numbers of connected users
• Create and deploy software solutions to solve complex energy management problems
• Collaborate with product managers, data engineers, and data scientists on customer solutions
• Foster experiment-driven innovation and promote successful project execution
• Improve developer satisfaction by reducing tech debt and automating processes
• Work closely with stakeholders and cross-functional teams

What you'll need

• Proven experience developing scalable backend solutions with TypeScript
• Experience building virtual power plant infrastructure and energy market integration
• Hands-on experience with energy service interfaces (smart meters, energy optimization, load balancing)
• Knowledge of architectural patterns and CI/CD implementation with GitHub Actions and cloud infrastructure
• Passion for maintainable, documented, and testable code
• Knowledge of software engineering trends and industry best practices
• Agile, product-oriented mindset and strong team collaboration skills
• Very strong written and spoken English skills

Nice to have

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (ideally Terraform)
• Python experience in Data Engineering or Machine Learning contexts
• Experience with IoT applications for grid balancing and demand response
• German language skills
