Engineering Manager | Remote | Europe

About the role

Lead and develop an engineering team at n8n, the open workflow orchestration platform for AI automation. You'll be responsible for building high-performing teams, creating clarity in a fast-moving environment, and driving technical execution with strong people leadership skills.

What you'll do

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers, supporting their growth in ownership, performance, and career development
• Create a high-trust environment where team members can learn, make confident decisions, and collaborate effectively
• Support hiring, onboarding, and team scaling initiatives across engineering
• Help your team stay focused and effective as priorities evolve and new AI opportunities emerge
• Communicate clearly through change, providing engineers with necessary context and direction
• Partner with Product, Design, and stakeholders to align on priorities and trade-offs
• Bring appropriate structure to your team while keeping processes lightweight where needed
• Maintain technical credibility by mentoring engineers and supporting architectural decisions
• Step into technical details when needed to unblock the team while focusing on people leadership

What you'll need

• At least 2 years of first-line engineering management experience leading engineers in a growing product organization
• Strong people leadership skills including coaching, feedback, career growth support, and handling difficult conversations
• Ability to maintain composure and help teams stay focused in fast-moving environments
• Strong software engineering background with ability to mentor engineers and assess technical trade-offs
• Comfortable being hands-on with technical details when needed to support the team
• Experience collaborating with Product, Design, and other cross-functional stakeholders
• High-growth SaaS company experience with scaling teams and reaching ambitious goals

Nice to have

• TypeScript/Node.js familiarity and JavaScript experience
• Interest in open-source or developer tooling products
• Experience with AI-native products or AI features
