Senior Fullstack Engineer - Operations Platform

About the role

This is a Senior Fullstack Engineer position within SumUp's Operations Platform Team, focusing on building internal unified platforms and tools that support global operations. You'll develop scalable software systems that enhance developer experience and enable Customer Support teams to assist customers effectively.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain fullstack applications with strong focus on backend services in microservices architecture
• Develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs while contributing to frontend interfaces
• Shape long-term strategy for shared business processes across multiple systems
• Write high-quality, scalable code following platform standards and best practices
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify pain points and translate requirements into solutions
• Work with Identity, Verification, Data, and Platform teams to deliver end-to-end features

What you'll need

• 5+ years professional experience with strong TypeScript proficiency
• Solid fullstack application experience with backend-focused mindset
• Hands-on experience with modern frameworks like Next.js, Remix, Nuxt, or Meteor, plus React proficiency
• Strong experience designing scalable backend services and RESTful APIs in microservices
• Experience with SQL, event-driven architectures, Postgres, and Kafka
• Understanding of system architecture, software design principles, and API design
• Experience mentoring other engineers

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure tools like Terraform
• Experience with Go or interest in learning it
• Experience writing technical design documents or architecture proposals
• Experience with platform-driven development or building developer tools
