Fullstack Engineer - Billing & Subscription

About the role

This is a Fullstack Engineer position within SumUp's Billing & Subscription squad, responsible for building and evolving systems that power merchant billing, subscriptions, and wallet experiences. You'll work on both frontend interfaces and backend services that sit at the core of SumUp's financial platform across multiple markets.

What you'll do

• Build and enhance user interfaces for merchant wallet and billing areas using React and TypeScript
• Update and standardize components across billing-related products for ongoing UI improvements
• Design and implement backend functionality supporting billing and wallet experiences using Go or Node.js
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver subscription and billing capabilities across different markets
• Participate in weekly support rotation to maintain platform stability and assist with merchant support requests
• Improve and refactor core billing components for better integration with payment and commerce systems

What you'll need

• Hands-on production experience with Golang or Node.js (preferably Golang)
• Experience building user interfaces with React and TypeScript, focusing on performance and maintainability
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs within microservices environments
• Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform for infrastructure deployment
• Experience with SQL and event-driven architectures, particularly PostgreSQL and Kafka
• Understanding of system architecture, software design principles, data modeling, and API design
• Collaborative approach with openness to feedback in team environments
• Strong sense of ownership and attention to quality and reliability
