Technical Lead - Java

About the role

This is a hands-on technical leadership position for a Senior Java Developer at Sprengnetter, a Scout24 subsidiary specializing in real estate valuation software. You'll lead and mentor a development team while actively contributing to Java development and driving the modernization of monolithic systems toward service-oriented architectures.

What you'll do

• Lead and mentor the development team while defining architecture, technical standards, and best practices
• Implement features, improve code quality, and resolve complex production issues using Java
• Drive modernization of monolithic structures toward modular and service-oriented architectures
• Collaborate with Product Management and stakeholders to shape the technical roadmap
• Continuously improve development processes, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices
• Work with modern tech stack including Java (Spring Boot, Microservices), AWS, Docker, CI/CD, relational databases, and messaging systems like RabbitMQ
• Shape architecture, scalability, and long-term technical direction

What you'll need

• Several years of experience as a Senior Java Developer with strong architectural expertise
• Proven technical leadership and mentoring experience
• Experience modernizing monolithic systems and designing scalable distributed architectures
• Solid knowledge of cloud environments (ideally AWS) and container technologies (Docker)
• Strong analytical mindset, ownership attitude, and collaborative working style
• Fluent German and English
