Senior Software Engineer (Backend focused)

About the role

This is a senior software engineer position at GetYourGuide, working on marketplace features that enable seamless booking of travel experiences. You'll be part of a cross-functional mission team developing scalable solutions that impact millions of travelers globally.

What you'll do

• Work with engineers, designers, and analysts on cross-functional teams
• Design, launch, and iterate on A/B experiments to enable fast learning about customers
• Maintain high-quality standards and continuously improve code base, systems, and processes
• Design and develop efficient, scalable solutions
• Mentor team members and participate in hiring
• Contribute to team roadmap and long-term strategy
• Work with Java, Spring Boot, Vue.js, SASS, Node.js, PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Kafka, Kubernetes

What you'll need

• 6+ years of software development experience
• Expertise in web application development using component-based frameworks
• High proficiency in Java
• Experience designing architecture and deployment of web applications and services
• Experience with writing tests
• Ability to turn ideas into fast, reliable, and maintainable code
• Customer-centric prioritization and data-driven decision-making
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Node.js, Vue.js, or similar component-based frontend frameworks
• Experience with A/B testing, hypothesis building, and event-based analytics
• Prior experience in e-commerce
• Prior startup experience
