About the role

This is a senior anti-financial crime compliance specialist position responsible for implementing and steering AML compliance frameworks across Upvest's investment platform. You'll join a team of 3 to safeguard the organization from financial crime while ensuring regulatory compliance as the company scales across Europe.

What you'll do

  • Ensure full compliance with local, national, and international AML laws and regulations
  • Assume AML Officer responsibilities in Germany and EU branches, communicating with regulators and auditors
  • Oversee day-to-day operational execution of AML policies including customer due diligence and transaction monitoring
  • Design, develop, and review the group's AML Framework and Policy
  • Monitor financial crime prevention measures and conduct independent AML compliance testing
  • Implement quality assurance for AML activities and maintain updated policies
  • Develop and deliver AML training programs across the organization

What you'll need

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in financial crime management within highly regulated financial institutions
  • Detailed understanding of UK and EU AML regulatory environment and key legislation
  • German and English language skills (European languages like French and Spanish desirable)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, ideally in startup/scale-up environments
  • Proven ability to interpret regulatory changes and translate them into actionable policies
  • Strong analytical skills and deep understanding of AML risk identification methodologies
  • Technical understanding of AML systems including screening solutions and fraud monitoring platforms
