About the role
We're looking for our first Head of Sales Engineering to build and lead the Sales Engineering function at voize from the ground up. You'll be highly hands-on initially, acting as the go-to expert in pre-sales while establishing processes, playbooks, and technical validation frameworks. As the company scales, you'll hire and develop a Sales Engineering team to drive enterprise growth.
What you'll do
- Build Sales Engineering function from 0→1: define processes, playbooks, and standards for discovery, demos, technical validation, and pilots
- Work with Account Executives in enterprise pre-sales, run discovery calls, and deliver tailored demos
- Own technical validation: lead deep dives, set success criteria, and run pilot/Proof-of-Value projects
- Serve as technical contact for customers: answer product, integration, privacy, and security questions
- Shape configurations and integrations that fit customer workflows
- Co-own accounts and plans with sales; build trust with IT leaders and decision-makers
- Partner with Product and Customer Success to turn feedback into rollout plans
- Create documentation, playbooks, and customer-friendly content
- Support partnerships: assess technical fit, enable partners, and co-run joint pilots
- Build and lead the Sales Engineering team as demand grows
What you'll need
- 5+ years experience in Sales/Solutions Engineering or Pre-Sales
- Experience leading a team
- Excellent communication skills in German (C2) and English
- Strong at discovery, storytelling, and presenting technical solutions
- Background in software engineering, information systems, or technical degree
- Solid understanding of AI, integrations, APIs, security and privacy
- High ownership mentality with urgency to unblock issues
- Collaborative approach with sales, product, and customer success teams
- Willingness to travel to customers and conferences
