About the role
As a Software Engineer (Backend focused) on the Developer Enablement Team, you'll contribute to building and maintaining tools and platforms that empower GetYourGuide's diverse engineering teams, including those working in Java, JavaScript, Python, and beyond. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer with strong backend fundamentals, a hunger to learn, and a drive to make a meaningful impact on developer productivity.
What you'll do
- Support and enhance CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions for continuous integration and ArgoCD for continuous deployment, ensuring reliable and efficient delivery of services.
- Administer GitHub repositories, permissions, and workflows to enable secure and seamless collaboration across engineering teams.
- Develop and maintain tooling to enhance automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end) for Java, JavaScript, and Python projects.
- Build and maintain tools to simplify local development environments, enabling engineers to spin up and test services quickly and consistently.
- Help maintain and evolve our in-house AI agent and related developer workflows and tooling, and support adoption of AI tools across engineering teams.
- Write clean, maintainable code for backend systems and tools, focusing on practical solutions that balance immediate needs with long-term scalability.
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and team discussions to learn from senior engineers and share your insights.
What you'll need
- 2+ years of backend development experience with at least one of Java, JavaScript/Node.js, or Python, and a willingness to work across multiple languages.
- Curious and proactive, with a strong desire to master new tools, technologies, and practices through hands-on experience and mentorship.
- Able to deliver practical, effective solutions, iterating based on feedback and focusing on what drives the most value.
- Familiarity with Git, cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), and CI/CD concepts.
- A proactive communicator who thrives in a diverse, supportive team environment. Fluent in English.
Nice to have
- Experience with GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or similar tools.
- Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, testing frameworks.
- Experience with creation of tools/automations that improved developer productivity (bonus: AI-assisted workflows).
