Android Engineer

About the role

Senior Android Platform Engineer role at Trade Republic, Europe's largest savings platform serving 10+ million customers. You'll own core Android platform infrastructure, drive performance and reliability improvements, and mentor feature teams while working with cutting-edge technology.

What you'll do

• Own Android platform primitives including modular architecture, core libraries, and shared UI components
• Drive app performance and reliability improvements focusing on startup, rendering, memory, and battery optimization
• Advance CI/CD processes including Gradle build optimization, caching, dependency management, and test infrastructure
• Improve observability through logging, metrics, tracing, crash reporting, and real-user monitoring
• Champion code quality via static analysis, lint rules, coding standards, and API guidelines
• Partner with security and privacy teams on data handling, permissions, and supply-chain hardening
• Mentor feature teams, run discovery reviews, and lead platform migration rollouts

What you'll need

• 5+ years building Android apps/libraries with Kotlin and Java interop experience
• Deep Gradle/AGP expertise including build optimization and multi-module setups
• Strong knowledge of Android architecture patterns (Clean/MVI/MVVM), DI frameworks, and coroutines/Flows
• Experience shipping large-scale apps with focus on crash-free goals and performance tooling
• CI/CD fluency including test pyramids, device farms, and feature flags
• Solid debugging skills across rendering, network, storage, and threading layers
• Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills
