About the role
Secfix is looking for an Engineering Lead who is a strong individual contributor first, manager second. You'll work directly with the CTO, take over engineering management responsibilities, and stay close to the codebase long-term. In the first month you'll ship features, in the second you'll own hiring, and in the third you'll start leading the team of five engineers.
What you'll do
- Month 1: Get into the codebase, ship a meaningful feature, and deliver high-quality work fast enough to credibly help others improve (70–80% coding)
- Month 2: Take over engineering interviews, design technical challenges, run screens, and make hiring more consistent and repeatable
- Month 3: Design a pragmatic performance evaluation approach, run regular 1:1s focused on output x impact, quality, and AI efficiency
- Own system design on major projects — write the technical spec, present architecture, get alignment, and drive to production
- Scale the product for mid-market: more granular RBAC, sub-workspace collaboration, and new control layers
- Help define backend architecture for agentic compliance workflows, intelligent evidence collection, and context-aware policy generation
- Bring AI-assisted engineering practices to the whole team through natural day-to-day collaboration
What you'll need
- Strong individual contributor background — you can build at a high level and have credible technical judgment
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers, with a people-first instinct (reaching for individuals over processes)
- Ability to own system design end-to-end: spec, architecture, alignment, and production delivery
- Genuine curiosity about AI tooling and how it changes the way teams build software
- Comfortable working in a small team without rigid process frameworks
- Available in CET/CEST timezone
