Machine Learning Engineer - NLP

About the role

The mission of this role is to bring state-of-the-art deep-learning methods to real-world applications from ideation and prototyping to production.

What you'll do

• Leading major projects
• Scope machine learning projects and their technical feasibility through client interaction
• Contribute to the next generation AI stack and grow the open source ecosystem
• Collaborate with data-, backend-, and frontend engineers in order to build production-ready AI solutions
• Design and implement machine learning solutions for real-world use cases

What you'll need

• MSc/PhD in computer science, machine learning, or a related technical field - or equivalent practical experience
• Strong programming skills in Python
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing modern NLP solutions, particularly Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) or agentic systems, with a solid understanding of their underlying principles
• Experience with training and fine-tuning neural networks is a plus
• Appreciation for sound engineering practices such as version control, clean code, code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and automation
• Ability to make architectural decisions and drive projects independently
• Ability to interact with clients and stakeholders to understand their problems, contribute to solution design, and clearly explain complex technical concepts
• Fluency in English and German
