About the role

You'll lead a small People Operations team ensuring compliant and operationally excellent people processes across Upvest's hubs in Germany, Estonia, and the UK. This role focuses on automating manual tasks and leveraging AI to enhance HR operations while maintaining exceptional employee experience from onboarding to offboarding.

What you'll do

  • Lead and develop a high-performing People Operations team
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws, payroll, and social security requirements across multiple jurisdictions
  • Partner with EORs for remote employee operations
  • Implement automation and AI-driven tools to streamline HR processes
  • Use data and metrics to identify bottlenecks and improve employee lifecycle processes
  • Scale processes in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment
  • Maintain operational excellence while delivering great employee experiences

What you'll need

  • Extensive experience managing People Operations across multiple hubs with essential German experience
  • Deep understanding of German labor laws, payroll, and social security requirements
  • Proven people management and leadership experience
  • Professional fluency in both German and English
  • Track record of implementing automated workflows and self-service models
  • Data-driven approach to HR operations
  • Experience scaling processes in high-growth startup environments

Nice to have

  • UK People Operations experience
  • Experience implementing AI-driven HR tools
  • Familiarity with HiBob and Looker
  • Experience with predictive analytics or automated document generation
