About the role

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you'll be part of a fully remote team building, automating and enhancing cloud and container-based infrastructure. You'll work as an "engineer for the engineers" helping others understand and leverage the architecture using AWS, Kubernetes and Istio to create a reliable platform for running core services.

What you'll do

  • Build and scale cloud-based infrastructure including managing Kubernetes clusters and AWS environment
  • Ensure high availability, autoscaling and failure recovery capabilities of production and pre-production systems
  • Develop custom controllers to automate cluster management
  • Leverage Istio and Envoy to manage service communication and provide network observability
  • Drive initiatives towards better system design and implementation of new technologies
  • Participate in infrastructure on-call rotations
  • Champion operations culture and help engineering organization deliver highly available services

What you'll need

  • Availability from 13:00 to 17:00 Central European Standard Time for team collaboration
  • Experience with Kubernetes and running containers at scale
  • Good, low level understanding of the Linux operating system
  • Strong coding skills in at least one programming language (Go preferred)
  • Good understanding of distributed systems, networking and container technology
  • Sufficient grasp of public cloud environments like AWS
  • Problem solving and operations skills for quickly diagnosing production issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Nice to have

  • Led company wide initiatives to improve operational excellence
  • Extended or contributed to open source components (mainly Kubernetes and Istio)
  • Influenced infrastructure vision and roadmap at previous experiences
