Senior Legal Counsel Banking, Trading & Crypto law

About the role

N26 is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel specializing in Banking, Trading & Crypto Law to build and lead expertise in the banking law team. You'll advise internal stakeholders on banking law matters and legal questions related to innovative financial market products, with a particular focus on trading and crypto financial products.

What you'll do

• Build and lead the Trading & Crypto law area within the banking law team
• Advise management up to executive level on all legal matters related to trading and financial market products
• Assess applicability and requirements of legal and regulatory guidelines for banking and financial market products
• Develop new concepts and manage projects in banking law and new financial market products
• Work closely with Product and Compliance teams to ensure regulatory compliance
• Serve as contact point for regulatory reviews and complaints
• Independently coordinate collaboration and communication with external legal advisors

What you'll need

• German qualified lawyer with first and second state legal examinations with above-average results
• Minimum 2 years experience in banking and financial market law at a renowned law firm or international company
• Comprehensive knowledge of banking and financial law and related legal areas
• Fluent German and English, additional languages (French, Spanish, Italian) a plus
• Strong interest in technical and business relationships and digital business models
• Ability to work independently, make decisions, and represent them internally and externally
• High level of integrity, commitment, and initiative

Nice to have

• Professional experience as a lawyer and relevant specialist lawyer qualification
• Experience in other legal areas
• Willingness to take on personnel responsibility
