Senior Backend Engineer - Accounts

About the role

You'll be a Senior Backend Engineer on the Global Accounts team, building critical infrastructure for a digital business banking platform that serves millions of merchants worldwide. You'll help transition from fragmented regional setups to a unified global infrastructure using event-driven architecture and distributed systems.

What you'll do

• Build critical infrastructure from scratch for a newly architected global accounts platform
• Master event-driven architecture using Kafka to build decoupled, resilient systems across regions
• Solve complex compliance challenges by designing flexible systems for varying regulatory requirements
• Enable other teams by building a self-service platform for internal contributions
• Work globally to impact EU and LATAM markets with potential US expansion

What you'll need

• Strong backend development experience in Kotlin with interest in Golang and Elixir
• Proven experience with Kafka and event-driven systems architecture
• Distributed systems mastery with hands-on AWS, Docker, Kubernetes experience
• Understanding of system architecture, data modeling, and API design
• Experience building scalable, fault-tolerant systems with relational databases
• Full ownership mindset from design to production readiness
• Collaborative approach with strong communication skills
