Senior Backend Engineer - Team Optimize

About the role

As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer on Team Optimize, you will own backend systems and APIs operating on large volumes of decision data and expose them through customer-facing product surfaces. Your work directly impacts false positive rates, approval rates, and confidence in shipping production changes.

What you'll do

• Build and own backend services in Python / FastAPI on AWS serverless infrastructure
• Design and evolve high-scale subsystems operating on historical decision data
• Maintain a high bar for code quality, system reliability, and delivery velocity
• Collaborate cross-functionally to translate business problems into scalable technical systems
• Operate in a high-leverage environment where AI-assisted and agentic coding are embedded into daily workflows, with access to state-of-the-art coding models and the autonomy to use them deeply while maintaining strong engineering standards

What you'll need

• 7+ years building and owning production backend systems
• Comfort working with large datasets
• Prior industry experience with Python. Java is a plus
• Experience with AWS services and serverless architectures
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
• Location: Berlin (hybrid setup). Taktile will not cover relocation services for this role

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale data technologies such as Apache Iceberg, Athena, Spark, or similar
• Experience with React and TypeScript
• Experience building experimentation or evaluation systems
• Exposure to fraud, AML, risk, or financial decisioning domains
